Guest Bio

Daphne Birdsinger is first and foremost a wife and a mother to three children.  Prior to having children, Daphne spent nearly a decade as a teacher, sharing her passion for writing and theater with middle and high school students.  In April 2015, her first child, Clifford, was born with cerebral palsy and a rare genetic condition. After a three-month stay in the NICU, he was finally brought home on a trach and a ventilator. Embracing her new role as Clifford’s primary nurse, therapist, and medical administrator, Daphne stepped away from her classroom career.

Among the many hats she wears inside her home as a mom to three beautiful children and one of them with extra-special needs, Daphne continues to serve as a writing tutor. But as she stumbled along on her own path as a new special needs mom, she also resurrected a lifelong passion for wellness. It is from this vantage point, in her role as both a special-needs parent and wellness enthusiast, that she has found a space to serve in her community by inspiring other moms and caregivers.

Daphne is active in her church and as a leader in her Mothers’ of Preschoolers group.  She draws on her faith to not only care for her own family, but to inspire her community to support families who find themselves with a child in the hospital for an extended stay. Daphne is on a mission to help people to live well so that they can better care for their loved ones–teaching the value of self-care as a means to serve others.
