This is what I’ve learned in life: don’t ask for permission, don’t complain, just start where you are with what you’ve got!
What do you want to change in your town? In your country? In our world? You don’t have to have gobs of money to make a difference.
Are you able to find the time? What if we stopped saying, “I don’t have the time” and just do it. Think less about it and just say, “Yes!”
A couple weeks ago, a recruiter point-blank told me she would not be moving me forward—because I have taken the last three-and-a-half years off to be a full-time parent. Let that sink in.
Philanthropic synergy occurs when an organization identifies a specific project that a donor is most passionate about.
Finding this “sweet spot” makes it easy to ask. It also makes obtaining a donation easy. It is a pleasure for both donor and fundraiser. When mutual interests align, the biggest impact is made to the organization. Philanthropic synergy is the opposite of giving in obligation.
So, if you are a fundraiser in any capacity, be it for a charity walk or of a nonprofit, don’t think you can’t because then you won’t.
Think you can because then you will. Believe and you will achieve.
…there are always a few organizations we feel obligated to give to. We kind of roll our eyes at each other and shrug asking what the “appropriate” amount is—an amount we won’t feel cheap about, but is no where near the level of giving to an organization we feel passionate about.

Philanthropy literally means the love of humanity. Specifically, nourishing and enhancing what it means to be human.
It can’t be for just a select few wealthy individuals. It can’t be an exclusive club to join that shows “you’ve made it.” It’s more than that.
