Starting fresh with Season 5, I’m back—and today I’m sharing why I stepped away, what’s ahead for the podcast, and why generosity matters now more than ever. In this episode, I talk about:
- What led to my pause and what I learned from it
- The heart of You Are A Philanthropist and why it’s not changing
- Upcoming episodes you can look forward to
- How small acts of kindness—like office baked goods—can lift heavy days
- Why generosity is part of healing in divided and difficult times
If the world has felt heavy lately, this episode is a reminder that everyday generosity still creates ripples of hope.

Hello, philanthropist. Welcome back to You Are a Philanthropist. I’m Jenn Klein and if you’re new here or it’s been a while since you listened, you are in the right place if you care about giving, living well and making the world better in everyday ways. It’s been a little while since I’ve released a new episode, and I wanna start out by saying thank you for sticking with me, checking in, and staying connected. This community has meant so much to me. Pressing record today. Feels like coming home. I took some intentional time away over the last few months, not because I stopped believing in this mission, but because I needed to pause. Reflect and recharge personally and professionally. A lot has been shifting and I wanted to be sure I was showing up with clarity and purpose, not just momentum.
And honestly, stepping back reminded me exactly why I started this podcast in the first place. To tell the stories of everyday philanthropists and to help people discover joy through generosity, faith and wellness.
This show is still about the power of small acts that ripple. It’s about the philanthropists next door, people who give their time, talent, and resources without fanfare. And it’s still about how generosity transforms us, not just the world around us. That heartbeat hasn’t changed.
I’m excited about what’s coming up next. I’ve already recorded two powerful episodes, one with Heidi Johnson, whose story will remind you what resilience and generosity look like in real life. And another, I’m finding hope after miscarriage, which is tender. Honest and deeply needed. You can also expect upcoming episodes like a season four recap.
What I’ve learned and what stayed with me an episode about my book Giving is selfish, why I wrote it and why it still matters. I hope you’ll check it out. Reflections on what I’ve learned over the last six months and even what 60 episodes of interviewing givers has taught me. There’s so much goodness to share. I know the world feels heavy right now. The headlines are heartbreaking. The division is real, and a lot of people are walking around with grief.
Anger, anger, or anxiety, they don’t quite know how to name, but here’s what I believe now more than ever, generosity of spirit, of time, of attention is part of the healing. Small acts matter, conversation matters. Being present matters. Just last week, I brought Panera Bread, treats into the office.
Nothing fancy, but the smiles, the laughter, the moment of connection. It was a reminder that kindness is powerful and it’s available to all of us. If you’re listening and thinking, yes, we need more of this, here are a few simple ways to stay connected. Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss upcoming episodes.
Send me a message if there’s someone whose story you think needs to be shared and download my free guide. The busy givers guide to feeling better fast. If you need a boost right now, go to my website, you are philanthropist.com, and I genuinely would love to hear from you, what acts of kindness have lifted you up lately.
I’m grateful to be back behind the mic. I’m excited for what’s ahead and I’m thankful that you’re here. Listen, giving and living generously in your own way. New episodes are on the way and I can’t wait to share them with you. Until next time, keep giving, keep growing and remember it always boomerangs back to you.
